An investigation into the sensitivity and specificity of iridology for detecting abnormalities in the female reproductive system: A cross-sectional observational study

This page documents how this source is reused across Claim by Claim. A source can support, challenge, qualify or contextualize different claims; appearing here does not imply endorsement of every linked proposition.

Evidence context

How this source is used

Evidence roles describe what this source helps establish inside each Investigation. They are local to that use, not permanent labels attached to the publication itself.

Investigation

Can iridology diagnose internal disease from iris patterns?

Qualifies

A 2025 observational study of 100 women reported 92% sensitivity and 56% specificity for iridology versus gynecologic ultrasonography. Blinding was not assured, and 44% of reference-negative subjects would be false positives; this does not establish a reliable diagnostic test.

The positive finding merits disclosure. Original publisher abstract accessed, not complete two-by-two tables; 2026 ophthalmic review flags lack of blinding.
