Is raw milk inherently healthier and safe because pasteurization destroys its benefits?
U.S. outbreak surveillance from 1998–2018 recorded 202 outbreaks, 2,645 illnesses, 228 hospitalizations and three deaths linked to unpasteurized fluid milk; raw outbreak counts lack a per-consumer exposure denominator and are not directly interpretable as a comparative individual risk ratio.
