A Danish synthetic-control study exploiting targeted municipality lockdowns estimated a substantial reduction in SARS-CoV-2 infections relative to constructed counterfactual municipalities.
Six of seven affected municipalities had suitable synthetic comparators; mean cumulative confirmed infections by 31 December were estimated 31% lower (19–43% municipal range). Mobility and voluntary behavior also changed, and testing increased after announcement.
