How this source is used

Evidence roles describe what this source helps establish inside each Investigation. They are local to that use, not permanent labels attached to the publication itself.

Investigation

Can iridology diagnose internal disease from iris patterns?

Challenges

Five leading iridologists reviewing randomized iris photographs of 39 gallbladder-disease cases and 39 matched controls achieved median validity of 51%, sensitivity of 54% and specificity of 52%, with poor inter-performer consistency.

Results were close to chance and directly tested a location on the iris claimed to correspond to the gallbladder.
