Anatomical evidence of acupuncture meridians in the human extracellular matrix: results from a macroscopic and microscopic interdisciplinary multicentre study on human corpses

This page documents how this source is reused across Claim by Claim. A source can support, challenge, qualify or contextualize different claims; appearing here does not imply endorsement of every linked proposition.

Evidence context

How this source is used

Evidence roles describe what this source helps establish inside each Investigation. They are local to that use, not permanent labels attached to the publication itself.

Investigation

Do acupuncture meridian maps follow fascia, nerves or other known anatomical structures?

Qualifies

Maurer and colleagues dissected four human bodies and two additional lower legs. Only 2/100 examined lower-leg acupuncture sites had vascular-nerve bundles; no consistent histological distinction was found for compared meridian versus control preparations, despite the authors interpreting fascia as a plausible anatomical substrate.
